The iPhone is a great device that is offers excellent support for the working pro.
Amongst the 150,000+ apllications that are available through iTunes, I thought I would write a little about 3 applications that are proving very useful and 1 that possibly will make one of our more tedious tasks incredible simple.
At any one time I could have 5-10 jobs in progress and often they involve lots of expenses. The application JetSet expenses by Britemac keeps track of all you expenses in an organized way with a simple intuitive interface. It allows you to take photos of your receipts and can backup your expenses reports to Google documents. Easy.

When I was an assistant I had an assisting folder which had all sorts of useful information and one this was the year’s sunrise and sunset times collected out of the RACV magazine and with my compass I wrote down throughout the year the angle for the sunrises and sunsets. Now with a single program, I can get the times and angles for anywhere in the world with the application Focalware by Spiral Development. It even shows the angle throughout the day.

In Melbourne you always need to keep an eye on the weather. Pocket Weather AU by Shift Jelly, gives you everything you could possibly need. Current weather, forecasts, radar, warnings etc for any location in Australia.

A new program that could be incredibly useful and make the process of collecting model/property releases very simple has arrived called Easy Release by Application Gap. The only issue with this product is that the subject signs the iPhone screen and that may be disputable. I have bought myself a stylus so people can use a pen to sign and what I like a out this product, is that if there is any change to the release the signature needs to be redone. The program has basic releases which you can customize the text and look event to include your logo and can email a pdf of the release straight from the shoot.
Photolibrary Alamy is recommending the program while iStock, not mentioning this program won’t allow them, see iStock Rules.
If accepted, this will be an excellent program.

I think one of my favorites is Strobox by strobox.com. Being able to sketch out lighting layouts like that is very useful, especially since you can save them to jpg and share them.
