Lenny Henry in 10 minutes

On June 29, 2008, in celebrity, editorial, portraits, by Gavin Blue

UK comedian Lenny Henry was in Melbourne for a gig on TV and a Queensland Magazine commissioned me for an article supporting his show. I shot him on a Sunday, he was with me for all of 10 minutes in my setup in the closed bar of the hotel.

I used my trusty portable flashes and transformed the hotel’s bar to in to my temporary studio.

My custom made speedlight holder that can hold up to 3 flashes

This is my custom made bracket that can mount up to 3 flashes to shoot through softboxes. This is especially useful when using my camera’s high speed flash syncing outside.

    Hi Gavin,

Love the portrait you’ve captured of Lenny Henry. I’m intrigued with your flash setup. Can you provide a bit more info on the type/manufacturer of the softbox you use and your custom strobe rig?

    Cheers
    Berk
