You have 20 minutes in this room

On July 19, 2010, in Uncategorized, by Gavin Blue

It is easy to create beautiful imagery when the location, subjects, timing and attitude all work together.  So often, the circumstances aren’t ideal and the job of a pro photographer is to produce a result no matter what the circumstances are. Many students visit the studio, show their folio and then tell me with each shot how each shot could be amazing if only this or that had been better………(blah blah blah). Clients want results, not excuses.

Today I was confronted by a tiny office in a poorly designed building and had to illustrate something special.

The room untouched

20 minutes and 3 speedlights later

20 minutes, 3 speedlights and Gavin Blue…. priceless. You and those speedlights make a great team, I love it!

  2. Dig it. Someone once said, “You just need a vignette of the location.”

    Works here Gav. :)

  3. I’m considering making the transition from lugging my Bowens set around, to the portability of speedlights. ( ok ok I’m getting older already :) How do you find working without modelling lights? Cheers, B

    Hi Barry,
I mostly have trouble if there is a strong backlight from office windows, but 90% of the time it isn’t a problem.
