I grew up in Canberra, and the school Narrabudah College, where I went to for years 11 & 12 was pivotal in me choosing my career as a photographer. This was mainly due to the inspiring photography teacher I had, Les Kovacs.
My parents and sister live there and I wanted to visit home, so I recently organized talks in Canberra for the ACMP at the Canberra Institute of Technology. I presented a talk on Photography Pricing as well as my Speedlight Talk & Demonstration.
With the help from the CIT, the local ACMP & AIPP members and Flickr groups. We had about 30-40 people for the pricing talk and then over 70 people packing into the CIT’s very impressive facilities for the speedlight talk.
Thanks to Andrew King from Nikon for making the effort to come down from Sydney, bringing a swag of gear to sway the Canon shooters out there. One camera feature that I haven’t thought twice about for along time that alot of students were interested in was being able to record audio directly to the image file. A very handy feature.
As popular as always were the features of the speedlights, adjusting power remotely, good auto sensing, the speed of setup as well as how they work with Honl Photo products. The door prizes were a Honl Photo traveller8 Softbox and Honl Photo Speed Grids.
